Absolute Beginner Tutorials for PSP8 . . .

I've had a lot of requests from brand new users of PSP for some basic, easy to understand tuts for PSP8, so without further ado, welcome to Absolute Beginners, a frustration-free zone where you can sit down with a cup of coffee and relax while you improve your PSP skills. This page will contain a growing collection of tutorials just for newbies.....newbies to PSP and newbies to graphic design. My mission statement for this collection is the KISS principle: Keep It Simple, Stupid! :) No complicated, drawn-out instructions, no hard-to-understand steps....just easy to understand tutorials with plenty of screen shots. No more pulling your hair out or stressing out over what on earth vectors, raster layers, contiguous modes or trusted and untrusted scripts are....there's plenty of time for all that stuff later!

And, when you're ready to move onwards and upwards (trust me, it'll be sooner than you think!) check out my more advanced tutorials, and for news of updates etc, I strongly recommend you bookmark my home page because this is where you'll find all the latest information. A mailing list is also in the works.

Note: The tutorials on this page may be downloaded or printed out for personal use only. No tutorial must not, under any circumstances, be taken from this site in its entirety or in parts and passed around Yahoo or MSN Groups, re-posted on other websites or passed on to other individuals. Placing a link on your Group's site or your own site is fine, and passing links around is also fine. But links ONLY please, and remember to acknowledge that they are external links, otherwise many of your visitors will assume they are still on your site. There are logos available on my resources page if you wish to use one. Thank you for your co-operation.

Want even more help?
          Look no further!

I think the best advice I can give to beginners is to check out the fantastic PSP online communities. There are so many, but the ones I can recommend above all others are the Paint Shop Pro Users Group (otherwise known as the PSPUG) and the Plus PSP group. Both are fantastic places to start. Not only do they have literally hundreds of tutorials and great resources (and links to many, many more) but the best help forums around.

Another great way to learn PSP is to join a MSN or Yahoo group. There are so many to choose from these days, just put a search through Google and see what you come up with. For more resources right here, check out the bottom of this page, and for a bigger collection of links, have a look at my Resources page for all kinds of graphics-related stuff. Good luck with your exploring!

Stay Frustration-Free!

For those times when you get so frustrated you feel like hurling your computer out the window, take a deep breath, and . . . . .walk away from it. Grab some fresh air, a cup of coffee or watch some TV. By the time you're ready to return you'll be mentally refreshed, and by taking a fresh view at something, you may suddenly spot where you went wrong. As a last resort, quit the tutorial and start it again. It's so easy to accidentally skip a vital step, and if you slowly go over the tut again from the beginning you can often figure out what went wrong. If all else fails, you can always email me.

TIPS & TRICKS . . .

An ever-growing list, the Tips and Tricks page is an ongoing project. I will add to this page whenever I get the time, and/or any great new ideas.
