6. Click on the 'Maps' tab, and let's see what this tab is all about:
The Maps Tab
1. Bump Maps;  2. Environment Maps
7. If it's not already selected, click on the Bump Maps (little white square) and have a look through the list. You'll see plenty of presets there (similar to what I've shown below, left). These are all greyscale images that when selected provide the surface texture for your image. Now have a look at the Environment Maps. These provide the colour and pattern for your image. Have a good play around with the different effects and see what you can come up with.

Bump Map Presets |

Environmental Maps |
Note: Don't worry if you don't see the same images in your lists, our lists will be different. These presets are a mixture of the PSP8 ones, my own, plus an old Blade Pro one thrown in for good measure ;-)
Finally, Bump Maps and Environmental Maps can be used in conjunction with each other, or individually. You don't have to use them both together. You don't even have to use them at all (remember our first experiments?). The Balls and Bubbles feature is a very versatile tool. To change the light source (strength, direction etc.) click on the Illumination tab. You can also change the 'Surface' tab settings to change opacity, shininess and gloss. Also, you can add your own bump maps and environments. The Jasc presets are located inside the Bump Map and Environment folders at Program Files>Jasc>PaintShopPro8> or wherever you decided to instal the program on your hard disk. When you make your own, PSP will automatically create them for you inside the Bump Maps and Environment folders that are located in your My PSP8 Files folder that Jasc automatically instals into your My Documents folder on start up. The images below are just a couple of examples of what I came up with:

Beach Ball...well, I'm Australian, what did you expect?! ;-) |

My own funky universe! |
Have a good play around with this feature, and also explore the presets that came with the program. I hope you found this tut of use, and again the best experience is your own, so just have fun exploring what you can do with this feature. You'll be amazed at what you'll come up with. :)
