How to Make Crushed Velvet in PSP7 - Page 2.

5.   Go the paintbucket, and while still on the new layer, flood fill with the purple color. You should now have what you see here (once again, image has been reduced for ease of downloading):

6.   We've almost finished, but if we want to use this as a seamless tile (for a web page background, or pattern fill for clothing or whatever you like) we still have a little more work to do. The first thing we need to do is to go to Layers>Merge>Merge All (Flatten). Now click twice on the Selection tool to bring up the custom selection box. Make sure you have these settings (shown at left). Leave 'Left' and 'Top' on zero, but key in (or drag the slider to) Right:200, Bottom:200. Hit OK.

7.   OK, this will give us a selection of around 200x200 which will be a perfect size for a background tile, or pattern fill. With the marching ants still running, click on the Scissors to Cut, then the Paste as New Image shortcut to create our final crushed velvet image:

8.   There are several things you can play with here, such as the size of your tile and the color. To change the color, either choose a different color from the palette at Step 4 instead of the purple, or just hit the Colors>Colorize and have a play with that. Here's a few examples of what I came up with:
