With the introduction of PSP8, Jasc have changed how the program handles its custom brushes. PSP8 will NOT be able to read V7 brushes directly; they will have to be imported into V8 for them to work. That's the bad news......the good news is, it's easy! Here is a quick tutorial to show how it's done. Also, even though I specify importing brushes from Version 7, this method should work for any previous version of PSP brushes.
Note: This tutorial may be downloaded or printed out for personal use only. It must not, under any circumstances, be taken from this site in its entirety or in parts and passed around Yahoo or MSN Groups, re-posted on other websites or passed on to other individuals. Placing a link on your Group's site or your own site is fine, and passing links around is also fine. But links ONLY please, and remember to acknowledge that they are external links, otherwise many of your visitors will assume they are still on your site. There are logos available on my resources page if you wish to use one. Thank you for your co-operation.
As always, if you have any questions about this tut, or any comments or suggestions in general your feedback is always welcome. Just click on the link above to contact me.
1. First of all we need to go to the import brush command, which you'll find on the file menu (see below) Note: you don't have to have an open image on the screen to do this. File>Import>Custom brush:
2. This brings up the dialogue box (below). Click 'open' to navigate to the folder where you keep your V7 (or V6) brushes.
3. Once you get there (don't worry if what you're seeing right now is different from what I have....my settings will be different to yours) make sure you have 'All Brush Files' showing in the file type box (see below left). Then all you have to do is to select the brush file you want to import. I've deciced to go with the Jasc brushes (as you can see below right). Click 'open'.
